History: Rise Up Industries (RUI) was founded in 2013 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, modeled after Homeboy Industries in Los Angeles, the world’s most successful gang intervention and reentry program. In March 2016, we opened our Reentry Program, which assists formerly incarcerated, previously gang involved individuals to successfully reenter society; thereby reducing the gang population and the recidivism rate. In August 2024, RUI launched Rise Up Leadership Academy (RULA). RULA is a gang-prevention program that serves youth beginning in 5th grade and will continue to provide services through high school graduation.
Position Summary:
The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all machined components meet customer specifications, engineering drawings, and ISO 9001 quality system requirements. The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of hands‑on inspection experience in a CNC machining environment, with strong knowledge of precision measuring equipment, inspection documentation, and quality system compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections of machined parts and assemblies according to drawings, models, and customer specifications.
Utilize precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, gauge pins, and CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) etc.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T symbols, and technical specifications.
Document inspection results using inspection reports, shop travelers, and non‑conformance reports in compliance with ISO 9001 procedures.
Ability and willingness to train personnel in blueprint reading, dimensional inspection techniques, and precision measurement practices.
Collaborate closely with shop supervisors, operators, programmers, and production staff to resolve quality issues.
Assist in maintaining and improving the ISO 9001 quality management system documentation and internal audits.
Ensure inspection tools and gauge are properly calibrated and maintained.
Support root cause analysis and corrective action processes for non-conforming products.
Participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
Qualifications:
3–5 years of quality inspection experience in a CNC machining or precision manufacturing environment.
Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality systems.
Proficient in blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation.
Hands‑on experience using manual inspection tools and CMM equipment/software (e.g., MCOSMOS, PC‑DMIS, Zeiss Calypso, Keyence XM or similar).
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office, ERP/MRP systems, quality documentation software).
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with aerospace and defense AS9100 quality standard.
ISO 9001 Internal Auditor Certification.
Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and gauge R&R studies.
Certification in Quality Inspection or Metrology (ASQ CQI or equivalent) is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 40 lbs.
Work in a manufacturing environment with standard safety requirements.
Position requires adequate visual acuity (with or without corrective lenses) to perform detailed inspection and measurement tasks.
Candidates must be able to pass a pre‑employment vision screening and wear corrective lenses if required by prescription.
