Tenure-Track - Assistant Professor - Pharmaceutical Sciences University of Massachusetts Lowell (UMass Lowell), Department of Biomedical and Nutritional Sciences, Zuckerberg College of Health Sciences.

Position type: Faculty Full Time, Unionized (Benefited-Union). Salary range: $75,000 - $135,000, based on rank and qualifications.

General Summary of Position The Department seeks a full-time, tenure-track faculty member at the level of Assistant Professor with expertise in pharmaceutical sciences and research interests in modeling, analysis, and simulation. The ideal candidate will have a successful publication record and demonstrate potential for extramural funding to support their research programs.

Research Focus The selected candidate will develop an independent basic or translational research program in areas such as:

Model-informed drug discovery and development

Quantitative systems pharmacology (QSP) modeling

Physiologically-based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling

Pharmacometrics; population pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD)

Computational modeling of drug absorption for formulation development

AI-driven or machine-learning-based drug discovery, drug screening, drug toxicity and/or lead optimization

Application of omics technology or high-throughput imaging for validation of targets

Successful candidates will engage in interdisciplinary collaboration across UMass Lowell colleges and research centers.

Teaching & Service All faculty are expected to teach undergraduate and graduate students and engage in service to the department, college, and university. Tenure-track faculty have a base teaching load of four courses per year, with a significantly reduced load during the first four years and additional reductions based on scholarly productivity.

Qualifications

A doctoral degree in pharmaceutical sciences or related health science field.

Postdoctoral research experience.

Record of research and publication.

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

Vibrant research program with strong likelihood of funding and continued scholarly dissemination.

Additional Considerations

Discipline-specific teaching experience preferred.

Experience fostering interdisciplinary research initiatives desirable.

Special consideration for individuals with experience working in interdisciplinary teams.

Special Instructions to Applicants This position is unionized under the Massachusetts Society of Professors/MTA/NEA. Anticipated salary range $75,000–$135,000 based on qualifications.
