Municipal Roadway and Water Resources Group Director
Join HNTB as a municipal roadway and water resources group director. We are seeking an experienced and visionary leader to oversee a dynamic team of over 50 professionals across our Central States Office. This role involves managing complex infrastructure projects for federal, municipal, and private sector clients. What You’ll Do
Direct and supervise the development and management of operating budgets for departments within the Group. Oversee group activities, establish priorities, and assign staff to projects. Collaborate on work-sharing needs and opportunities with other groups and divisions. Implement the firm’s strategic plan and HNTB’s Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA) on project pursuits. Drive the contracting (SCA) process through project delivery and contracting activities. Apply the project delivery (SDA) process including work planning, monthly reviews, and performance methods. Assist in marketing, client discovery, proposal generation, interviews, and win-to-work activities. Maintain client contacts to ensure satisfaction and lead sales and marketing efforts for department growth. Recruit, hire, develop, and retain staff; support managers with performance and compensation reviews. Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and quality, performing technical discipline tasks as needed. Lead a group of at least 25–40 employees. Perform other duties as assigned. What You’ll Need
Bachelor’s degree in engineering. 12 years of practical experience, including 4 years of supervisory experience. What We Prefer
Master’s degree. 15 years practical experience. 6 years supervisory experience. Professional Engineer (PE) certification. American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Municipal, federal, and private sector client relationships across the Midwest, ideally in Kansas City, St. Louis, Des Moines, and Oklahoma City.
