About The Job Are you ready to apply your cloud engineering expertise to optimize and automate cloud cost management? Join Red Hat's Hybrid Cloud Management (HCM) team as a Senior Cloud FinOps Engineer and help implement effective cloud cost optimization solutions. In this role, you’ll collaborate with architects and technical leads to design and deploy cost‑efficient solutions for Red Hat OpenShift on AWS (ROSA) and Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO). You’ll focus on optimizing cloud resource allocation and streamlining financial processes across hybrid cloud environments. With Red Hat’s growing focus on leveraging AI, you’ll have the opportunity to implement automation, AI, and machine learning solutions to enhance cloud cost management, predict spending patterns, and drive cost optimizations. You’ll play a key role in applying FinOps best practices, including reserved instances, auto‑scaling, and rightsizing, to ensure we maximize the efficiency of our cloud infrastructure. The preferred location for this role is our Raleigh, NC office, but we will also consider highly qualified candidates in North America who prefer remote work.

What You Will Do

Design and implement cloud tagging, cost allocation, and policy enforcement to ensure visibility and accountability in cloud spending

Partner with architects and technical leads to implement architectural changes aimed at optimizing cloud costs

Analyze ROSA, ARO, and additional cloud service architectures to identify areas of overspending and inefficiencies

Develop automated cloud cost reporting solutions using AI and machine learning for early detection of unexpected expenses and inefficiencies

Integrate cloud cost management tools with internal systems for streamlined data flow and more informed decision‑making

Continuously optimize cloud infrastructure to reduce costs while maintaining performance

Collaborate with engineering teams to develop and implement cost‑efficient reference cloud service architectures

Define and enforce FinOps best practices for reserved instances, savings plans, auto‑scaling, rightsizing, and compute architecture selections, incorporating automation to improve resource allocation and cost efficiency

Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and trends, refining cost management processes to remain competitive and efficient

What You Will Bring

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field

Advanced experience in Kubernetes, OpenShift or other cloud‑native technologies

Extensive experience delivering hosted cloud services and managing cloud financial operations

Familiarity with Graviton‑based instances and Karpenter for Kubernetes

Experience developing applications in Golang or Python

Experience implementing architecture‑level changes for cost optimization

In‑depth understanding of the Kubernetes cost model

Proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP

Strong analytical skills to identify inefficiencies and provide actionable insights from cloud data

Expertise in platform engineering tools and methodologies, including DevOps, CI/CD, automation, and monitoring

Solid understanding of cloud billing models and pricing structures across various providers

Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Detail‑oriented with a proactive approach to cost‑saving and cloud efficiency improvements

Self‑motivated with the ability to lead cloud financial operations and initiatives

Preferred

Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., FinOps Certified Practitioner)

Skilled in cloud cost management tools such as CloudHealth, Cloudability, AWS Cost Explorer, and Azure Cost Management

Experience with Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO) and Red Hat OpenShift on AWS (ROSA) architectures

Experience with AI tools for predictive analytics, anomaly detection, and cost optimization
