Senior Director of Business Development
KBR, Inc. is seeking a Senior Director of Business Development for the Science & Space (S&S) organization. The role reports to the Vice President of Growth for S&S and oversees the Business Development team for federal government pursuits. The Senior Director will manage roughly five direct reports and focus on developing early‑game opportunities with a high level of commercial acumen.
Responsibilities
Develop, lead, and mentor the team of business development managers through early‑game pursuit lifecycle stages.
Ensure managers leverage the KBR early‑game BD process to understand procurement environments, generate leads, build client trust, and engage customers aggressively.
Feed quality opportunities into the pipeline and mature them through KBR’s BD process, providing senior executive insight at early strategy decision gates.
Participate in milestone and color‑team reviews, enhancing solutions based on customer feedback.
Assist managers in creating comprehensive business development and account plans, driving a compelling market approach.
Improve commercial acumen and BD excellence through process improvement, training, and strategic thinking.
Qualifications
Minimum 20 years of experience managing federal government BD teams of five or more, pursuing Single Award contracts valued greater than $300 M.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related technical field.
Demonstrated success in growing business through strong communication skills (verbal, written, executive presence).
Experience managing pipelines and utilizing CRM tools such as Salesforce.
Proven ability to work with senior business and government leaders and provide workplace leadership.
Experience with competitive/teaming analysis, strategic pricing, and commercial acumen.
Track record of winning large‑scale government programs over $300 M.
Experience developing account and pursuit plans for new opportunities.
Proven individual BD and/or Capture experience with documented wins.
Basic Compensation $226,800.00 – $340,100.00 (based on contract affordability, location, skills, abilities, experience, and internal parity)
Additional Compensation Bonuses, commissions, sign‑on bonus, relocation benefits, short‑term incentives, long‑term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance, subject to internal policy.
