Position Title: Design Validation Engineer
Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract Design Validation Engineer opportunity located in Redmond, WA.
Job Responsibilities
Develop and execute detailed hardware validation and verification plans for complex analog, digital, and embedded systems.
Collaborate closely with hardware design, integration, and systems engineering teams to ensure product requirements are accurately tested and validated.
Design and perform board-level bring-up, debug, and validation of new hardware, including testing of microcontrollers, SoCs, FPGAs, power supplies, and communication interfaces (e.g., SPI, I2C, CAN, QSPI).
Create and maintain test cases, test procedures, and traceability matrices that align with project and regulatory requirements (e.g., GEVS, SMC-S-016).
Perform hands-on bench testing and electrical debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and other lab equipment.
Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for hardware issues uncovered during validation or integration phases.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, 5+ years of experience in board-level design verification for aerospace, automotive, or consumer electronics products
Experience developing requirements, plans, and procedures for product design verification
Experience: Developing and executing verification plans, test cases, and test procedures to ensure the proper functioning of hardware designs
Excellent communication and leadership skills, Excellent board-level electrical circuit troubleshooting and debugging skills
Strong hands-on soldering skills, including experience with both through-hole and surface-mount components as part of hardware preparation for testing
Proven experience in design verification for hardware systems, including experience with board-level debugging and analysis
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and collaborate effectively across disciplines
Preferred Job Qualifications
Solid understanding of EE and test fundamentals with emphasis on power electronics
Experience with the design or test of circuit boards with complex microcontrollers, system-on-chip (SOC), or FPGAs. Experience with design or test of communication buses, switching power supplies, electric motors, IMUs, sensors, RF, and high-speed electrical signal characterization.
Experience with the definition of test requirements or the development of manufacturing test equipment
Experience with the development of acceptance, production, and qualification test plans and associated aerospace standards (GEVS / SMC-S-016)
Experience with the development of automated test systems. Proven experience in design verification for hardware systems, including experience with board-level debugging and analysis
Experience with incoming calibration checks and developing calibration procedures
Experience in reviewing requirements to support various test phases
Experience as the technical lead, leading small groups of other test engineers across multiple designs. Hands-on experience with IO bring-up and compliance testing for protocols such as SPI, QSPI, I2C, I3C, and CAN bus
Familiarity with programming languages used in automation, such as Python, C, or similar.
