Role Summary Role Summary:
Surgical Solutions Technicians serve as an integral member of the operating room/endoscopy team providing support services to surgeons and all other staff. They are committed to superior customer service while actively assisting in daily operations and procedures in their local account. The position reports to Account Supervisors/Lead Technicians.
Duties & Responsibilities
Model a high standard of performance to staff and peers
Understand procedures being performed and anticipate the needs of surgeons, while ensuring a high level of service to staff during the operative procedure
Ensure the maintenance of the sterile field
Demonstrate a high caliber of skill in
Pre‑operative setup
Ensure video equipment is functioning properly
Place monitors and equipment according to the surgeon's preference
Open supplies while maintaining sterile field
Intra‑operative technical and customer support
Ensure necessary equipment is plugged in and functioning properly
Address any supply issues and requests
Provide support during procedure as needed
Post‑operative turnover
Gather and dispose of garbage/waste, breakdown tables as needed, mop room as needed
Gather instruments and equipment
Inventory instruments and other equipment, and ensure everything is in working order
Provide any other help as needed to OR staff to ensure quick turnaround
Equipment Maintenance and Repair Management
Identify any damaged or worn instrumentation (i.e. firmness, stiffness, alignment, chips/dents, dullness, sharp edges) for repair or replacement
Troubleshoot malfunctioning scopes and equipment and work with the repair vendor to arrange for loaner instrumentation
Maintain high standards for decontamination, inspection, assembly, wrapping, and sterilization of surgical instruments
Maintain all laparoscopic equipment and replace as needed; process repairs for instruments and scopes
Maintain current preference cards for surgeons
Maintain a professional level of service, behavior, and communication with Surgical Solutions team members, hospital, and OR staff
General Responsibilities
Work closely with the endoscopy techs, nurses, and surgeons to ensure that each surgeon has available to them his/her preferred model scope and other instrumentation/equipment for all standard and specialty procedures
Allow for a smooth transition when the surgeon working in a room completes his/her cases and the next surgeon arrives
Collaboration
Collaborate well with fellow team members and hospital staff, act with respect and dignity towards others
Provide exceptional customer service to the hospitals we serve as a representative of the company
Credentialing Maintenance
Obtain/maintain CRCST Certification: support for obtaining proper certification will be provided by Surgical Solutions; the Technician is/will be responsible for upkeep of the certification
Complete/provide documentation required to obtain medical clearance from the hospital
Complete annual trainings/competencies
Maintain organized records of medical/OHS credentialing requirements
Duties related to Surgical Cost Management Platform (SCMP)
Daily log in to SCMP to view the scheduled cases, your case assignment and to advance cases you are servicing, in near real time
Use SCMP to view your site's digital Preference Cards and alert your site lead if a preference card needs revision
Create emergency/add‑on cases for your team lead when required
Check‑in with your team lead at the beginning and end of each shift to work through case revisions and outline any completed or cancelled cases
When SCMP is missing critical data, such as a missing doctor, room or procedure, alert your site lead to create
Learn, adopt and utilize all new technology as intended, when needed, as outlined in the Technology Policy; if you need assistance, reach out to support when you have a roadblock
Skills And Abilities
Regular, reliable, consistent on‑site job attendance is a requirement at assigned workplace. Punctuality and dependability are important to meet the needs of colleagues, hospital staff and the hospital Operating Rooms’ schedules
Must be able to work Sunday – Saturday which includes 24/7 coverage on a rotational basis between the technicians at the local hospital during weekdays, weekends, and holidays. This position typically entails a 40‑hour workweek and additional hours may be required based on workflow and OR schedule to ensure our customers receive the highest level of service
Ability to organize responsibilities, think critically and make decisions in high stress and emergency situations. Collect, organize and analyze information and clearly communicate in verbal and written form. Manage time and systemize actions to complete tasks. Demonstrate problem‑solving skills and use sound judgment while exercising standard safety precautions. Ability to work quickly and accurately with commitment to detail
Interpersonal abilities sufficient to interact with individuals and groups from a variety of social, emotional, cultural, and intellectual backgrounds. Ability to establish rapport with clients and team members as well as demonstrate professionalism in all circumstances

Communication abilities sufficient for interaction with customers, hospital staff, team members and other healthcare professionals in verbal and written form. Ability to effectively read and comprehend technical and professional materials and to follow oral and written instructions. Tactile, auditory, and visual accuracy sufficient for physical assessment, and to interact in clinical, lab, and classroom environments
Work Environment: hospitals are a 24‑hour, 7 days a week operation that have a fast‑paced atmosphere and involves exposure to bloodborne pathogens, various chemical disinfectants, and infectious materials
Ability to wear personal protective equipment (i.e. eye protection, gloves, shoe covers, surgical head covering, and gown) is required
Physical Demands
Ability to turn, bend, squat, kneel, crawl, reach, push, pull, maneuver in tight spaces, and side‑to‑side turning of neck
Ability to maneuver heavy equipment; lift, carry, and balance items weighing up to 50 pounds individually or additional weight with assistance
Full range of body motion; gross and fine motor abilities sufficient to provide safe and effective care
Repetitive and constant standing for prolonged periods
Normal, correctable vision and hearing required including the ability to accurately discern color as necessary to perform job functions
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma/GED required. Some college preferred
Certifications: Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) required
Previous Experience: minimum 6 months experience in OR/SPD/Endo required; 2‑5 years face‑to‑face customer service experience
Outstanding customer service skills, ability to build and maintain strong rapport with hospital teams
Must have excellent communication and negotiation skills
Possess excellent leadership skills; ability to effectively build teams and direct the work of others
Ability to quickly and accurately anticipate needs, and appropriately respond
Experience with Microsoft Suite; Outlook, Word, Excel
Availability for 24/7 hospital coverage including weekday, weekend, and holiday rotational scheduled and on‑call shifts
