Position Summary The Reliability Engineer is responsible for ensuring systems meet mission‑critical reliability, availability, and durability requirements throughout their life cycle. This role conducts reliability predictions, failure analyses, reliability modeling, and testing to improve system performance and reduce life‑cycle costs. The engineer collaborates closely with design, systems engineering, manufacturing, quality, and sustainment teams to influence design and validate reliability performance against customer, military, and regulatory standards.
Essential Functions
Work with Integrated Product Team (IPT) to identify safety and reliability critical items, perform analysis, and identify any non‑conformances and offer design alternatives.
Generate reliability, maintainability and system safety reports for IPT and customer review.
Perform system safety analyses per MIL-STD-882E, SAE ARP4761 and follow SAE ARP4754 guidance.
Perform Maintainability analyses per MIL-STD-470.
Review customer reliability, safety and maintainability requirements and provide RMS/C analysis.
Performs other duties as may be assigned.
Required Skills
Experience with aerospace reliability standards and methodologies
MIL-HDBK-217F, MIL-HDBK-217 Plus at a minimum
Fault tree analysis
FMECA
System Safety Assessment
Hazard analysis
Common Mode Analysis
SEE/SEU analysis in accordance with IEC 62396-1
Reliability processes experience
Reliability stress predictions, failure rate predictions
Physics of Failure based analysis methods
Ability to multitask using the appropriate level of priority setting.
Ability to work well under pressure, to adhere to deadlines and to be flexible.
Requirements
BS in Mechanical or Electrical engineering; MS preferred.
5‑10 years of experience in a similar role within the aerospace industry, including Reliability, Maintainability, and Safety engineering analysis.
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance.
Salary and Benefits In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New Jersey is $125,000 - $175,000 annually. This is not a guarantee of compensation; final offers may vary based on factors such as experience and internal consistency.
