Oracle Database Engineer III
– Transaction Network Services (TNS)
Overview Provide leadership and deep technical expertise for highly complex Oracle database application systems running on Unix/Linux platforms. This role is dedicated exclusively to Oracle Database Administration; candidates with only SQL Server DBA experience will not be considered.
Responsibilities
Actively participate in and may lead team in design of creative solutions to address database issues including the development of the architecture for new systems.
Design creative solutions to address proprietary database issues, including development of architecture for new systems.
Provide technical and troubleshooting support. Install, configure, upgrade, migrate, and patch Oracle database servers.
Provide technical guidance on large, complex database projects.
Write and maintain Unix shell scripts to facilitate and automate database administration tasks.
Review space reports, responding to non-critical requests for assistance, and manage backups and restores.
Serve as primary point of contact for technical support and troubleshooting of database management issues.
Perform problem resolution for complex issues including root cause analysis, status updates, and outline resolution options.
Design and test Disaster Recovery scenarios.
Review and establish policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management.
Proactively monitor production databases to circumvent potential problems and errors.
Perform continuous quality improvements by learning new technologies, product trends and/or database administration techniques.
24x7 on-call support for production databases.
Qualifications
5+ years’ experience supporting/managing multiple, high volume, large multi-terabyte production Oracle databases.
Advanced database management skills including performance tuning and capacity planning; proven experience implementing and supporting ASM, DataGuard, and GoldenGate.
Backup and recovery using RMAN; UNIX shell scripting, PL/SQL, and SQL skills.
Experience managing infrastructure systems, including server, storage, and network.
MySQL, MSSQL Server, MongoDB database administration.
Oracle Certified Professional (DBA).
Database on cloud like AWS experience.
Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
Compensation & Benefits Salary: $115,000 – $125,000 annually. You will receive a competitive benefits package that includes medical and dental coverage, life insurance, paid holidays and vacations, and a 401(k) plan with company match.
