Position Overview Join a mission-driven team dedicated to rescuing abused and neglected exotic animals, providing lifelong sanctuary, and educating the public about the harms of the exotic animal trade. Your work will support efforts to save wildlife, advocate for stronger protections, and ensure every rescued animal can live safely and with dignity. As Fundraising Coordinator, you will drive fundraising growth through campaign execution, donor cultivation, corporate and community partnerships, and event management. You will support leadership in expanding the donor pipeline, securing sponsorships, and strengthening engagement through consistent, relationship‑focused communication.
Responsibilities
Lead annual fundraising campaigns and special initiatives (Giving Tuesday, year‑end, appeals, membership)
Identify, cultivate, and solicit individual, foundation, and corporate donors
Set and track fundraising goals, benchmarks, and ROI
Manage donor communications, proposals, and stewardship
Support sponsorship proposal development for events and capital campaigns
Build and maintain strong donor and corporate relationships
Manage major gift pipeline and donor upgrade opportunities
Ensure accurate donor data and coding in DonorPerfect
Collaborate with communications on donor‑focused content
Secure corporate sponsors and develop partnership packages
Represent the organization at community and networking events
Oversee fundraising projects, timelines, and budgets
Prepare monthly fundraising and sponsorship reports
Support grant writing with data and impact information
Coordinate volunteer recruitment, training, and roles for fundraising events
Qualifications
Minimum 1+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience
Proven ability to solicit donations, build donor relationships, and secure sponsorships
Comfortable with cold calls, scheduling meetings, and in‑person asks
Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to craft compelling donor messaging
Proficient in Microsoft Office and donor CRM systems (DonorPerfect preferred)
Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, mission‑driven environment
Valid CA driver’s license and reliable transportation required
Friendly, hard‑working team player with strong interpersonal skills
Knowledge of philanthropy, fundraising strategies, and best practices
Exercises sound judgment and maintains strict confidentiality of donor information
Skilled at face‑to‑face and phone solicitations; able to overcome objections
Works effectively with the Founder/Director and board to maximize fundraising opportunities
Ability to build long‑term donor relationships through strong stewardship
Exceptional interpersonal abilities across diverse personalities and stakeholder groups
Self‑motivated, resourceful, and able to plan, prioritize, and problem‑solve independently
Role requires walking the outdoor sanctuary property and supporting on‑site events in varied weather, along with office‑based administrative work
Occasional evening and weekend work
