Position Principal EO/IR Engineer
– Melbourne, FL.
Responsibilities
Support development and integration of electro‑optical subsystems and components to meet platform mission objectives.
Design and analyze EO/IR signal processing algorithms and software.
Requirements development, analysis, maturation and implementation translating customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Perform MBSE and capture requirements, interfaces, behaviors, structures and parametrics.
Perform performance and functional analyses.
Conduct detailed trade studies.
Perform risk analysis and develop mitigation plans and track to closure.
Collaborate with engineers and program stakeholders.
Develop and maintain supplier documentation, performance‑based specifications, and statements of work.
Technical management of program strategic partners and suppliers, including development, acquisition, acceptance, qualification, system integration and test support.
Review documents from the supplier’s development effort and support supplier technical interchange meetings and design reviews.
Identify, plan and execute informal and formal testing of subsystem requirements in lab, troubleshoot hardware in the lab.
Perform aircraft ground and flight test on subsystems to validate and verify subsystem requirements and sell‑off.
Lead technical discussions with the customer and have daily interaction with management, external personnel, customers, and various sub‑teams.
Basic Qualifications
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 5 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university AND 3 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; or a Ph.D. AND 1 year of related professional/military experience in Engineering.
Ability to obtain and maintain a government Secret clearance and any required program access within a reasonable period of time.
Knowledge of EO/IR phenomenology.
Experience in lab testing, hardware/software verification, and concept development.
Experience in modeling EO/IR systems to assess performance.
Preferred Qualifications
Problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
Good verbal and written communications skills for presentation of technical approaches, work performed, results, and findings.
Ability to assimilate new concepts quickly and independently.
Experience in EO/IR system and atmospheric modeling.
Knowledge of digital image processing algorithms.
Experience in model‑based systems engineering using Cameo or similar SysML tools.
Experience in performance analysis using MATLAB and Excel or similar tools.
Familiarity with Atlassian collaboration toolset (Jira and Confluence).
Experience in supplier/subcontract management.
Experience with developing supplier documentation, performance‑based specifications, and statements of work.
Experience building supplier evaluation criteria and conducting technical evaluations, documenting results and selection.
Ability to review documents from the supplier’s development effort and support supplier technical interchange meetings and design review.
Salary Range Primary Level Salary Range: $95,300 – $142,900.
Benefits Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions. Directors or VPs may be eligible for long‑term incentives. Benefits include health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company‑paid holidays, and paid time off for vacation or personal business.
