The Director of Merchandising for Menswear is responsible for leading the strategic direction and execution of the merchandising strategy for the menswear category. This role will oversee the product assortment, pricing strategies and inventory management ensure that the collection meets both consumer needs and business objectives. The Director will work closely with cross-functional teams including design, planning, buying, and marketing to drive growth and profitability in the menswear department.
This role will primarily be based in our Greenpoint, Brooklyn office.
About The Role
Develop and execute the merchandising strategy for the menswear category, aligning with the overall brand vision and business goals.
Lead the selection, buying, and assortment planning for menswear products, ensuring a strong balance between trend, quality, and profitability.
Oversee product lifecycle management, from concept through to the final sell-through, including the development of seasonal collections.
Work closely with the design and product development teams to ensure that the product offering is consistent with market trends and consumer demand.
Analyze sales performance and make data‑driven decisions to optimize the assortment and pricing strategy for menswear products.
Collaborate with marketing, web and visual merchandising teams to ensure the product is represented effectively in‑store and online.
Mentor and lead a team fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
Monitor and analyze competitor trends and industry benchmarks to stay ahead of the market and maintain a competitive edge.
Ensure inventory levels are managed efficiently, working closely with planning and operations to meet demand while minimizing excess inventory.
Work with senior leadership to set and achieve financial targets, contributing to the overall success of the brand.

What We Are Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Fashion Merchandising, Retail Management, or a related field preferred
7+ years of experience in retail merchandising, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role within the menswear category.
Proven ability to lead and develop a high‑performing team.
Strong understanding of the menswear market, including trends, consumer behavior, and key competitors.
Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to leverage data to drive merchandising decisions.
Experience with inventory management, sales forecasting, and financial planning.
Strong negotiation skills and experience managing vendor relationships.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and merchandising software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, etc.).
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
