Area Assistant Director of Finance Join Sage Hospitality Group at Homewood Suites by Hilton Washington DC Capitol‑Navy Yard to provide financial leadership across multiple hotels. The role focuses on payroll, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, internal controls, and regulatory compliance while supporting our commitment to hospitality excellence.

Responsibilities

Supports multiple hotels across all areas of financial compliance and reporting, budgeting development, and management.

Assists in the operation of leaders’ departments and special projects, identifying risks and presenting solutions that guide effective decisions.

Develops annual operating budget, operating plan, and financial goals; achieves budgeted revenues, costs, and profits through diligent accounting practices.

Sets written priorities and key objectives for each department head quarterly, follows up to ensure implementation and takes corrective action when necessary.

Produces monthly forecasts of operating staff and cost expenditures; aligns business planning with forecasted sales and costs.

Reviews financial statements, corrects issues, ensures spending aligns with projections, and approves major expenses.

Promotes associate morale and loyalty, assists in staff development, and maintains an open-door policy with monthly department meetings.

Ensures hotel management meets job requirements, conducts cost controls review, and protects hotel assets.

Reviews sales solicitation activities, evaluates room nights productivity, manages group rates, and monitors key account contracts.

Qualifications Education:

A four‑year college degree (accounting preferred) or equivalent education/experience.

Experience:

Five to ten years in a related financial position, preferably within hospitality or a similar organization.

Knowledge & Skills

In-depth knowledge of hotel accounting functions performed by subordinate staff.

Advanced accounting, finance, and hospitality industry knowledge.

Ability to analyze data, manipulate information, and draw logical conclusions.

Proficiency in bank reconciliations, preparation of state and federal reports, training of accounting staff, meeting facilitation, analysis of balance sheet accounts, journal entries, and month‑end close.

Physical Demands

Lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying limited to 15–20 lbs.

Bending/kneeling limited when arranging supplies or equipment.

Mobility between offices and departments; no continuous standing or driving.

Ability to train and interact with management and associates.

Ability to read reports and use computer applications.
