Traffic Engineer/ITS Senior Technical Advisor
Location: Atlanta, GA.
What You're Looking For HNTB is looking for a driven professional to lead technical production, project scoping, and support delivery across traffic engineering and ITS disciplines. The role may involve traffic forecasting, traffic analysis, transportation modeling, ITS corridor design, signal design, asset management, and corridor safety studies. Responsibilities include providing direct support on complex projects with regional impact and multi‑disciplinary deliverables.
What You’ll Do
Perform independent technical reviews, provide recommendations, and offer technical guidance on complex engineering projects.
Mentor and support production staff, offering expertise and leadership.
Assist in marketing activities, including proposal generation for complex projects within the discipline.
Coordinate technical aspects with client counterparts and teaming partners at local leadership levels.
Develop and advise on technical consistency across disciplines.
Ensure standards and practices are consistently applied.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 12 years of relevant experience, or
Master’s degree in Engineering with 11 years of relevant experience, or
PhD in Engineering with 10 years of relevant experience.
What You’ll Bring
Lead technical engineering for large, complex projects and be recognized as an expert in the field.
Identify and communicate industry best practices, trends, and risks through presentations, articles, and white papers.
Act as a trusted advisor to clients and distinguish the firm from competitors.
Represent the firm on industry advisory committees.
What We Prefer
Master’s degree in Engineering.
20 years of relevant experience.
Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification (depending on discipline).
