Accounting Manager – General Accounting El Camino Health

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Accounting Manager oversees general accounting operations, manages automation and process improvement projects, and leads a team of accounting professionals.

Base pay range $61.27/hr - $91.91/hr

Key duties and responsibilities

Oversee daily operations – manage day-to-day activities of the accounting department.

Manage automation and process improvement projects – explore and lead initiatives to streamline financial reporting.

Lead the team – mentor, provide technical guidance and training.

Assist in managing financial closings – lead and participate in month‑end and year‑end closes, review and approve journal entries and reconciliations.

Assist in managing the audit – coordinate with internal and external auditors.

Special projects – support ad hoc projects such as compliance reporting and tax filing.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Six (6) years of progressive experience in an accounting environment, including a minimum of 3 years in a healthcare setting or audit firm and 2 years at a management level.

Strong accounting skills, including understanding of GAAP.

Detail oriented with excellent analytical skills.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations related to healthcare industry and financial reporting.

Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook; experience with integrated accounting software.

Knowledge of Workday Finance module preferred.

License/Certification/Registration Requirements

Certified Public Accountant (“CPA”) required.

Physical Requirements Sedentary work; duties performed mostly while sitting; walking and standing at times. Occasionally lift or carry up to 10 lbs. Uses hands and fingers.
