About the job
The Pixel Electrical Engineering Team works on some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics today. In this role, you will own the entire electrical design of the product and be instrumental throughout the complete lifecycle of Pixel products. From early architecture design, bring‑up, validation, manufacturing, and product launch, the Pixel Electrical Engineering (EE) team is front and center. You will perform all electrical engineering tasks related to sub‑system design, including schematic capture, performing circuit signal integrity simulation, collaborating with the PCB/Flex CAD team on layout and routing, and planning and execution of circuit validation. Design mediums will involve rigid multi‑layer HDI PCB, multi‑layer FPC, and hybrid rigid/FPC assemblies. The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics, bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users worldwide. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Experience in an engineering lab (e.g., internships, cooperative education programs, or educational projects). Experience with electrical engineering principles in the following areas: power regulation, high and low speed digital, hardware bring‑up and debugging, schematic capture or PCB layout. Experience with schematic capture, PCB layout tools or lab techniques such as soldering, oscilloscopes, and data acquisition. Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field. Experience in electrical system design, prototype bring‑up and debugging, functional verification, and manufacturing support. Knowledge of embedded systems, processor architecture, various communication protocols (especially USB‑C, SPI, I2C, UART, MIPI, DSI), Python scripting, C++, and Cadence/Allegro. Proficiency with both schematic capture and PCB layout tools. Ability to execute own work with minimal supervision. Excellent investigative and organizational skills, coupled with a well‑focused attention to detail. Responsibilities
Contribute to the electrical design and validation of Google's future hardware phone products, focusing on digital interfaces (e.g., USB‑C, SPI, I2C, UART, PCIe, and various MIPI standards), SoC, and memory. Work closely with the larger cross‑functional engineering team and suppliers (mechanical, RF, antenna, sensors, display, camera, and layout) to transition new designs from concept to production cycle. Bring designs to mass production by reviewing factory test requirements, assisting in software bring‑up, and traveling on‑site to the manufacturer to ensure the design is built and tested successfully. Contribute to design tool enhancements or development, including schematic or eCAD scripting tools, lab validation tools (hardware and software), data post‑processing analysis tools, lab automation, fixture design, and realization.
