Job Description Our client, a well-regarded Texas-based law firm, is looking for a Data Privacy Director to join their team.
Responsibilities
Generate and mature a sales pipeline via networking, market presence, outreach, and strategic visibility.
Oversee the end-to-end deal cycle: qualification → solution shaping → proposal creation → negotiations → closing.
Partner with prospective clients to pinpoint cybersecurity, privacy, risk, and compliance challenges.
Track prospects via CRM tools; provide accurate forecasting and performance insights.
Enhance brand footprint through thought leadership, industry forums, partnerships, and presentations.
Conduct win/loss reviews to refine go-to-market tactics.
Lead or support cyber/privacy projects: assessments, program audits, gap analyses, remediation plans, roadmaps, implementation support.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams (internal experts, independent consultants, alliances) for cohesive project execution.
Translate complex technical issues into business-aligned insights for executives.
Mentor rising professionals; provide guidance on client service and pursuit strategies.
Build and sustain executive-level relationships across active and prospective accounts.
Spot expansion opportunities and cross-sell adjacent advisory offerings.
Provide client-feedback loops to strengthen commercial strategy.
Stay up to date on regulatory regimes (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA, SEC, GLBA, TDPSA, FTC) and emerging threats.
Produce or contribute to articles, webinars, conference sessions, and expert commentary.
Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, IT, or related discipline.
Deep subject-matter command in cybersecurity, data privacy, and information protection.
Preferred certifications: CISA, CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CIPP, or equivalent.
8+ years in cyber/privacy/security consulting, ideally mixing industry and advisory leadership.
5+ years working with frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and regulations like TDPSA, HIPAA, FTC.
Strong communicator capable of delivering to executive audiences.
Proven ability to market, pitch, develop proposals, and close mid- to high-value engagements.
Demonstrated leadership and team-motivation capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Graduate degree in a related field.
Proficiency with CRM/sales tools (e.g., Salesforce).
Established network within the Texas cybersecurity and privacy ecosystem.
Skills & Knowledge
Broad command of cyber frameworks: PCI, GLBA, FFIEC, SOX, and others.
Expertise in risk management, incident response, cloud security, emerging tech.
Ability to lead seasoned professionals and contribute individually.
Strong relationship management, project management, and conflict-resolution abilities.
Exceptional writing and presentation skills: proposals, reports, white papers, RFP responses.
Analytical strength: evaluating data, defining solutions, converting insights into actionable strategies.
Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset with experience building or scaling service offerings.
Additional Duties
Oversee and/or directly execute client engagements.
Participate in strategic planning and organizational decision-making.
Ensure adherence to industry standards and regulatory expectations.
Represent the practice at conferences, briefings, and client meetings.
Travel primarily within Texas as needed.
