The AWS Hardware Engineering team creates server designs, employing industry‑leading frugality and operational excellence. The Firmware team drives system innovation in servers for AWS services. Embedded software engineers build and own server‑related firmware, from embedded software to large‑scale distributed systems, using proprietary and open‑source technologies.

Server Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) Software.
Scripting language development.

A day in the life As an experienced Senior Software Development Engineer, you will build and own server‑related firmware, working with world‑class software developers to create innovative, scalable solutions for real‑world data center infrastructure problems. You will be part of development efforts to build, validate, and support firmware in diverse technology domains from embedded software to large‑scale distributed systems.

Basic Qualifications
3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
