About the Role As a CBRE Building Engineer (Water Treatment Operator), you will focus on the operation of the Acid Waste Neutralizer (AWN) system. The position falls under the Engineering and Technical Services job function and is responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clean tanks and filter beds using backwashing (reverse flow of water)
Repair and lubricate machines and equipment using hand‑ and power tools
Test water samples to determine acidity, color, and impurities using a colorimeter, turbidimeter, and conductivity meter
Dump chemicals such as polymer into tanks to coagulate impurities and reduce acidity
Maintain equipment and plant areas by painting, repairing machinery, and replacing parts
Record data, such as residual content of chemicals, water turbidity, and water pressure
Inspect records, observe conditions, make calculations to determine whether the plant is working effectively
Predict necessary maintenance and facility needs to ensure continued effective operation of the plant and explain plant performance to supervisors, EHS, auditors, and regulatory personnel
Understand advanced processes and the impact of feed water quality on production and finished water quality
Operate, monitor, and maintain processes
What You’ll Do Control treatment plant machines and equipment to purify and clarify water for industrial use, including:
Electric motors, pumps, and valves
Agitators to mix chemicals and allow impurities to settle at the bottom of the tank
Valves to regulate water through filter beds to remove impurities
Pumps to move purified water into water mains
Monitor panel board and SCADA HMI and controls to regulate flow rates, loss of head pressure, and water elevation and distribution of water
What You’ll Need Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 4‑5 years of job‑related experience
In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered
Certificates and/or Licenses Preferred certification in two or more of the following: Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC and Refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry, or engine repair.
Other Skills and/or Abilities
Meet the physical requirements of the role, including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more
Understanding of existing procedures and standards to solve slightly complex problems
Ability to analyze possible solutions using technical experience to apply appropriate judgment and precedents
Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset
In‑depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
