Quality Engineer – Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing About the Role:
We’re looking for a Quality Engineer to support customer‑driven programs and supplier quality initiatives within a precision manufacturing environment. This role focuses on driving continuous improvement, leading corrective actions, and ensuring compliance with strict quality and regulatory requirements.
You’ll work closely with engineering, operations, suppliers, and customers to ensure products meet the highest standards from design through delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead quality activities for assigned programs from proposal through production and customer delivery
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including non‑conformance analysis, root cause investigations, and corrective action implementation
Participate in cross‑functional teams and lead FMEAs to mitigate risk early in the product lifecycle
Host and support customer, supplier, and internal quality audits
Serve as the primary quality interface between internal teams, suppliers, and customers
Develop, maintain, and improve quality management systems, procedures, and documentation
Establish and manage supplier quality performance metrics and monitoring tools
Issue and manage supplier corrective actions (SCARs) and internal CAPA processes
Interpret and apply industry standards, customer requirements, and government regulations
Partner closely with engineering to ensure designs are production‑ready and quality‑focused
Track and manage action items from audits and supplier assessments
Lead quality efforts across materials, processes, assemblies, and field returns (RMA investigations)
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a technical discipline (electrical or mechanical preferred)
Experience supporting precision‑machined components and complex assemblies
Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality systems
Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
Hands‑on experience with SPC, process capability, and statistical quality tools
Proven analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause problem‑solving skills
Experience working with suppliers in a quality or development capacity
Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and structured problem‑solving methodologies
Experience with ERP/MRP systems and production planning environments
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiar with Microsoft Project
Preferred Skills:
Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification
ASQ certifications (CQE, CQM, or similar)
Experience in aerospace, defense, or highly regulated manufacturing environments
Strong customer‑facing and supplier collaboration experience
