Overview This position directs and oversees administrative, operational, and financial operations for the inpatient oncology, outpatient infusion and radiation oncology departments. The Director of Patient Care Services- Site Oncology is responsible for the integration of the local oncology service line development, implementation, and integration and collaboration across the HMH network. Effectively works across departments and the HMH network to efficiently produce outcomes. Ensures the department remains compliant with all state and national guidelines and licensure requirements. This position is accountable for implementing the strategic plan for care delivery systems across the Medical Center/Patient Care Facility (Medical Center), which is fully aligned to the HMH Nursing strategic plan. The Nursing Director for Patient Care Services - Site Oncology assesses, plans, implements, monitors, and evaluates nursing practice and the nursing care delivery system with direct supervision of front‑line leaders and team members. The Director will promote compliance with quality and safety initiatives and foster effective collaborative relationships between units/departments throughout the HMH network.
Responsibilities
Aligns with hospital and Oncology CTS strategic goals to develop and implement initiatives that support current and future growth of cancer services.
Maintains a current working knowledge of all aspects (including clinical and business) of the service line and demonstrates this knowledge through leadership, innovation and collaboration.
Manages the day-to-day operations, including clinical and administrative support staff of all oncology areas to maintain the highest levels of patient, physician and team member satisfaction.
Tracks and trends outcome measures, identifies opportunities and leads efforts for improvement to achieve best demonstrated practice.
Organizes, plans and directs care management activities consistent and in compliance with accreditation/regulatory bodies.
Interfaces with leadership at various levels of the organization, establishing strong working relationships throughout the network.
Oversees the development, maintenance and implementation of policies and procedures.
Manages and assists in the recruitment, development and supervision of team members, creating and sustaining an environment that fosters engagement.
Participates in implementation of the Medical Center’s and the network’s organizational and nursing strategic plans, performance improvement program, human resources program, and annual operating budget.
Demonstrates a clear vision that supports HMH’s vision, mission and shared values; maintains a big picture view, foresees challenges and opportunities, and generates breakthrough ideas through innovation.
Plans, organizes, and provides administrative oversight of assigned patient care units and/or departments.
Ensures attainment of clinical, service, financial, quality, and growth parameters.
Monitors nursing standards of practice, policies, protocols and guidelines to ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory agencies.
Develops and implements short and long-term goals for all areas in alignment with strategic plans.
Supports the Magnet Program Director and Magnet program by ensuring the support of a shared governance model, collection of data, writing of exemplars and coordination of documentation as requested.
Supports and interprets policies, procedures, philosophy and objectives of the hospital.
Maintains consistent rounding for visibility in areas of responsibility to inspire respect, build trust and facilitate communication.
Collaborates effectively with other disciplines as appropriate.
Provides leadership support and resources to ensure a talent pipeline for succession planning and ensures professional development opportunities.
Pursues professional growth and participates in professional organization.

Oversees compliance with established standards and regulatory requirements.

Establishes detailed workforce management plan to address ongoing staffing needs, including adherence to productivity standards.
Coaches leaders in providing a cost-effective nursing service.

Responds to patients and families as necessary, acting as a patient advocate and maintaining privacy and confidentiality.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (BA/BS/BSN and MA/MS/MSN/MBA/MPA/MHA) or Bachelor’s and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). One degree must be in nursing.
At least 5 years of progressive leadership in related fields.
Excellent financial management, delegation, and organizational skills.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations.
Ability to deal tactfully with colleagues, personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public; possess an understanding of people and a sense of accountability, fairness, and consistency.
Established analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Preferred
Minimum 5 years of clinical experience.
Licenses And Certifications
Required: NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.
Preferred: National nursing administration certification. (Must attain national nursing certification within the 1st year of employment.)
Preferred: National specialty certification.
Compensation Starting at $171,891.20 Annually.
