AV Pros NY is a leading provider of integrated audiovisual solutions for commercial, educational, and corporate environments. We specialize in the deployment of cutting‑edge technology and highly integrated AV systems and we are seeking multiple
experienced AV Design Engineers
with advanced skills in AV/IT system design, documentation, and commissioning. Ideal candidates will have
10+ years of experience
in an AV integration or consulting environment and
5+ years specifically in AV design engineering .
What You’ll Do
Lead the design, implementation, and documentation of advanced AV systems including conference rooms, video conferencing, All Hands spaces, digital signage, IPTV, sound systems, production intercom, nurse call (trainable), and network‑integrated AV solutions.
Generate complete drawing packages, including:
Device mounting and connection details
AV panels, racks, BOMs, and scope of work
Electrical, structural, and network requirements
Provide expert recommendations on system architecture, configuration, and long‑term AV strategies.
Perform detailed site surveys and translate client needs into design specifications, equipment lists, and proposals.
Collaborate closely with end users, IT teams, facilities, architects, electrical contractors, and other trades to ensure smooth integration of AV solutions.
Guide clients on future‑state AV planning and strategic improvements.
Project & Program Management
Own AV projects from concept to commissioning, including design development, equipment selection, technical oversight, and coordination with PM and installation teams.
Respond to RFPs, generate RFIs, prepare vendor scopes, and support proposal development.
Conduct pre‑installation and punch‑list walkthroughs, identifying risks and ensuring system readiness.
Technical Support, Testing & Commissioning
Commission AV systems, verify functionality, complete QA checklists, and deliver fully operational solutions.
Troubleshoot complex AV, IT, control‑system, and network‑related issues with precision.
Work closely with control‑system programmers to ensure proper functionality and integration.
Deliver end‑user training and create complete close‑out documentation packages.
Maintain accurate documentation standards across all projects, including CAD files, BOMs, and system schematics.
Stay current with emerging AV technologies, best practices, and industry trends.
Recommend system upgrades and improvements to support continuous innovation.
What You Bring
10+ years
working in an AV integration firm or AV consulting firm.
5+ years
dedicated experience in AV system design engineering.
High proficiency in AutoCAD, Excel, and Word.
Strong expertise in modern enterprise video, conferencing, and collaboration technologies (Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Cisco, Poly, etc.).
Deep technical knowledge of AV hardware and systems including Crestron, Extron, Q‑SYS, Biamp, Poly, Cisco, Shure, Dante/AV‑over‑IP, and related technologies.
Exceptional understanding of AV standards, signal flow, network fundamentals, audio DSPs, and control systems.
Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Ability to support multiple simultaneous projects with precision and organization.
Travel required within NYC and surrounding regions.
Preferred Certifications
AVIXA CTS, CTS‑I, CTS‑D
QSC / Biamp / Poly / Cisco
Audio Certifications
Microsoft / Crestron / Cisco Video Certifications
Advanced networking or IT certifications (Network+, CCNA, etc.)
