Job Summary Of The Breast Reconstruction Specialist The Breast Reconstruction Specialist is responsible for accelerating sales of Axogen products in target programs in the new application surgery space (Breast Reconstruction). The specialist identifies, profiles, and promotes Axogen nerve repair products in new markets to surgeons within a targeted regional geography and serves as a clinical resource to new‑market‑application surgeons on the clinical benefits of Axogen’s products, provides education and information on best practices in the science of nerve repair, and offers additional training as requested. The role aims to develop enduring relationships that allow surgeons to deliver excellent outcomes to their patients. It also requires research into referral patterns, patient base, and strategic consulting to target programs regarding patient awareness; collaboration with the marketing team to plan and execute market‑development events; and partnering with local Axogen sales representatives to achieve corporate goals.
Requirements Of The Breast Reconstruction Specialist
BS degree required
Masters degree preferred
5 years medical device or medical technologies sales experience required
Experience selling to Breast Reconstruction surgeons strongly preferred
Proven track record of success with back‑to‑back years of top awards/accolades, top 10‑15% nationwide rankings, history of promotion
75% plus travel
Reside in the territory (see below)
Responsibilities Of The Breast Reconstruction Specialist
Serve as a clinical resource and expert on nerve repair and the benefits of Axogen’s products to new market surgeons and to the Axogen sales and marketing team
Develop product, clinical and technical expertise required to credibly and successfully represent Axogen and its portfolio of nerve repair products to clinicians and hospital purchasing agents
Demonstrate a strategic selling approach by successfully positioning and communicating a value proposition that is compelling to the sale
Accelerate sales of Axogen nerve repair products to surgeons and accounts in the target region
Provide a plan and execution strategy for calling on target surgeons and evaluating sales performance
Facilitate stocking and ordering of Axogen products in the account to ensure regular availability
Provide regular feedback and suggestions on market trends, training needs and product development
Focus on increasing qualified leads and converting them to sustainable sales, then managing those relationships
Create in‑field strategies to build a network between the New Market Applications’ Breast Recon Specialist, surgeons and local sales representatives
Conduct cold calls and present/articulate the key benefits of Axogen’s products to the sales targets
Work in partnership with the local Axogen sales representation to meet territory goals
Assess sales targets and needs through active listening and provide tailored solutions
Collaborate with new‑market‑application surgery educational programs to include Axogen’s products in microsurgical training
Collaborate with the marketing team to plan and execute market‑development events; travel to events and lead them as required
Track and report contacts with customers, individual customer needs and interests, and customer adoption
Possess the ability to engage in elevated strategic conversations with KOLs, practice and hospital administration, and other key influencers to understand beyond transactional selling opportunities
Will not force product to be used unnecessarily or to unqualified targets due to the understanding of the greater good of the initiative
Comprehend program and procedure economics
Research and understand each referral stream and patient pathway
Organize, attend, and lead patient/community awareness events
Collaborate with patient advocacy groups
Reach established sales and corporate objectives
Territory Washington DC and Baltimore, MD
Benefits / Compensation The anticipated target compensation for base salary plus commission is ~$230k (uncapped).
