Location:
San Francisco, CA. This position is a management level role within the U.S. Managed Accounting Services team, reporting to the Director of Managed Accounting Services and supported by a global team of accountants.
Responsibilities
Comfortable in a client‑facing role, working on business development and relationship building while ensuring premium client work.
Support Life Sciences clients with diverse revenue streams, partnering with commercial teams to establish sound business models, proper revenue recognition, transaction posting accuracy, and disclosure processes.
Act as a working manager, rolling up sleeves to complete tasks and ensuring high quality execution.
Provide proactive solutions, understanding clients’ businesses and ensuring accurate transaction recording; streamline accounting processes using full‑cycle accounting experience.
Plan, assign, and review work performed by bookkeepers for accuracy, provide feedback, and assist in implementing new tools and software.
Own financial monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close processes (journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, complex accounting items) for multiple clients simultaneously, developing detailed close plans and schedules.
Manage project deadlines, ensuring delivery of work products based on client expectations.
Collaborate with Managed Accounting Services and Tax teams on technical questions and project progress.
Review client financial performance monthly and recommend improvement opportunities.
Assist clients with recording revenue recognition (ASC 606), equity, and leases to ensure GAAP compliance.
Collaborate on process improvements, KPIs, and dashboard enhancements.
Support mergers & acquisitions, due diligence, purchase accounting, and integration activities.
Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Comply with firm policies and procedures, including timesheet submission and attendance.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
CPA license.
Previous experience as a Controller or similar role in the life sciences industry.
In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
Ability to learn and work in multiple accounting systems; prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
Advanced MS Excel skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Motivated, quick learner with strong communication skills and professionalism.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team to see projects through to completion.
Eligible to work in the U.S.
Salary range:
$130,000–$180,000 for candidates based in San Francisco.
