Chief Engineer – Hilton Garden Inn Position Summary The Chief Engineer is responsible for overseeing all engineering, maintenance, and life safety operations for the Hilton Garden Inn. This role ensures the property is well‑maintained, fully operational, and compliant with Hilton brand standards, local regulations, and company policies. The Chief Engineer leads the engineering team, manages preventive maintenance programs, coordinates capital projects, and ensures a safe, comfortable environment for guests and team members.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Operations & Maintenance

Oversee the daily operation of the hotel’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and life‑safety systems.

Conduct regular property inspections, including guest rooms, public areas, back‑of‑house, and exterior spaces.

Manage and execute the hotel’s Preventive Maintenance (PM) program in accordance with Hilton Garden Inn brand standards and Pyramid Global Hospitality guidelines.

Ensure timely completion of guest room PMs, equipment servicing, and routine maintenance tasks.

Respond promptly to engineering service requests, work orders, and emergencies.

Team Leadership

Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate engineering staff.

Foster a positive, safety‑focused work environment with strong communication and accountability.

Provide ongoing technical training and development for the team.

Ensure staff follow proper procedures for safety, lockout/tagout, chemical handling, and emergency response.

Financial Management

Manage departmental budgets, labor control, and expense tracking.

Source and negotiate pricing with vendors, ensuring cost‑effective purchasing of supplies and services.

Coordinate with the General Manager on Capital Expenditure (CapEx) planning, project justification, and approvals.

Maintain accurate records of equipment warranties, service agreements, invoices, and inspections.

Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with all municipal building codes, OSHA regulations, fire/life safety standards, and Hilton brand requirements.

Conduct and document mandatory testing, inspections, and safety drills (elevators, alarms, sprinklers, extinguishers, generators, etc.).

Lead the hotel’s emergency response efforts, including severe weather procedures and evacuation protocols.

Maintain MSDS/SDS documentation and ensure proper chemical storage.

Guest Service & Brand Standards

Support guest satisfaction by maintaining rooms and public areas to brand‑standard condition.

Assist with guest concerns related to maintenance issues and ensure timely resolution.

Work collaboratively with Housekeeping, Front Desk, F&B, and leadership to maintain excellent room condition scores and SALT performance.

Ensure compliance with Hilton Quality Assurance (QA), PEP, and Property Operations & Maintenance requirements.

Project Management

Plan, coordinate, and supervise capital projects, renovations, and contractor work.

Review proposals, monitor progress, ensure work quality, and verify completion before approving invoices.

Maintain project timelines, minimize guest impact, and ensure all work meets Hilton Garden Inn brand expectations.

What are we looking for? Qualifications

Minimum 3–5 years of hotel maintenance or engineering experience; Hilton experience preferred.

Prior supervisory/leadership experience required.

Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and equipment maintenance.

Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and building plans.

Familiarity with Hilton systems: PEO/PEP, QA, Quore, Glitch Reports, PM tracking, Workday, and procurement tools.

Valid certifications strongly preferred (EPA Refrigeration/Universal, HVAC license, pool operator certification).

Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work in confined spaces, and respond to after‑hours emergencies as needed.

Work Environment

Full‑time position with flexible availability required.

On‑call rotation for emergencies.

Working indoors and outdoors, sometimes in extreme temperatures or during inclement weather.

Hands‑on technical work combined with administrative and supervisory responsibilities.

Compensation $60,000 – $62,500
