About The Role
The Tax Director is responsible for leading the global tax function, including direct and indirect tax for both US and foreign jurisdictions. As a key member of the finance leadership team, this role reports to the CFO and is responsible for tax planning and strategy, tax compliance, tax audits, tax accounting, and other reporting requirements. The Tax Director will also play a key role in assessing the tax implications of strategic business initiatives and presenting to executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities Tax Strategy & Planning
Responsible for total company tax planning and strategy, including both global direct and indirect tax.
Provide support to the business related to the tax implications of strategic initiatives, projects, and other business matters.
Partner with the CFO and other executives to provide strategic insights based on financial data, analysis, and tax requirements.
Tax Compliance & Governance
Ensure compliance with all laws and requirements related to all tax matters for the company.
Develop and maintain appropriate tax policies and governance framework documentation.
Ensure technical knowledge within the tax team is maintained, and developments impacting the company (such as new regulatory requirements) are identified, analyzed, communicated, and proactively addressed.
Stakeholder Management & Team Leadership
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with tax authorities, including Competent Authorities, National Tax Authorities, State and Local Tax Authorities.
Lead a team of employees and manage the relationship with appropriate outside tax advisors for both direct and indirect tax.
Attract, retain, and develop talent to deliver the strategy and support the business.
Develop, maintain, and deliver on agreed KPIs.
Qualifications Required Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years of tax experience, preferably with a global manufacturing company
B.S. in Accounting/Finance (CPA or Master’s Degree preferred)
Ability to maintain strong relationships with other members of the organization, including people from diverse cultural backgrounds
High integrity and attention to detail
Ability to manage projects across various sources and stakeholders
Strong background in managing integrated financial accounting and indirect reporting systems is preferable
Strong leadership skills and the ability to energize and empower a team
Proficient with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
Strong oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
CPA or Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
