Assistant/Associate Professor of Sport Management
The Mark H. McCormack Department of Sport Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst invites applications for a tenure‑track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The department is one of the oldest sport management programs in the world and is housed within the nationally ranked Isenberg School of Management. It offers BS, MS, MBA/MS, and PhD programs and is home to fifteen full‑time faculty members.

Job Description The department strives to be a leader in the field of sport management and to mentor students who will make a meaningful difference in the sport industry. To support this mission, the department maintains the McCormack Center for Research and Education, the McCormack Case Study Collection, the McCormack Thought Leadership Papers, and two research laboratories—the KnowRivalry Lab and the Laboratory for Inclusion and Diversity in Sport. UMass is also home to the Mark H. McCormack Collection, the archives of sports business innovator Mark H. McCormack and his company, IMG.
Requirements
PhD in Sport Management (or expected completion by September 2026)
Preference for candidates specializing in quantitative methods (not required)
Evidence of excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching
For Assistant Professor: potential for high‑quality sport‑related research; for Associate Professor: an established research record in top sport‑management journals
Favorable view of candidates with willingness and/or experience to work with doctoral students
Salary Range $79,853 – $173,453 (low‑end is the minimum salary for the rank per the collective bargaining agreement with the Massachusetts Society of Professors).
