Supplier Quality Engineer
Duration: 12 Months
Location: Muncie, IN 47302 or La Grange, IL 60525 (100% onsite)
Hours: 8 AM – 5 PM | 40 hrs/week
Travel Requirements
Approximately 40% travel, primarily within the U.S.
Occasional international travel (e.g., Mexico, Canada).
Nice-to-Have
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
Welding metallurgy certification.
Supplier Quality Engineering experience in heavy machinery, locomotive, automotive, or aerospace.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct multi-stage supplier inspections (T0–T3), tool trials, and quality gate reviews.
Perform supplier audits, PCPA audits, APQP implementation, and technical sign-offs.
Review and validate tooling, fixtures, gauges, and fabrication readiness.
Address supplier technical queries involving materials, GD&T, coatings, and specifications.
Lead fitment studies, corrective action plans, ECN/FETE implementations, and validation testing.
Support safe launch, PSW sign-off, and successful SOP/Ramp-up.
Drive supplier performance improvements and risk mitigation strategies.
Must-Have Qualifications
5–10 years of engineering experience (preferably 8–10).
Strong hands-on experience with heavy steel sheet metal fabrication and welding.
Solid understanding of forging, casting, machining, heavy fabrication, and materials.
Ability to read complex engineering prints and GD&T.
Experience with AWS welding standards and engineering material standards.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (required).
