Job Description The Benefits Analyst is responsible for managing, analyzing, and optimizing an organization’s employee benefits programs—including health insurance, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives—to ensure they remain competitive, cost‑effective, compliant with regulations, and supportive of employee satisfaction and retention.
Responsibilities
Administer day‑to‑day operations of benefits plans (health, dental, vision, 401(k), leave of absence). Manage enrollment for new hires and annual open enrollment, process changes and terminations.
Collect and analyze benefits utilization, cost, and market data to identify improvement and cost‑saving opportunities. Prepare reports and presentations for management.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws (ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, etc.) and prepare required filings (e.g., Form 5500).
Collaborate with vendors, insurance carriers, and brokers on contracts, claims issues, and service delivery.
Act as primary contact for employee benefit questions, develop communication materials, handbooks, and host educational sessions.
Research industry best practices, benchmark offerings, and recommend enhancements or new programs.
Qualifications
Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (oral and written)
Independent work style with teamwork flexibility and initiative in a fast‑paced environment
Confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive information
High attention to detail and ability to manage shifting deadlines and priorities
Commitment, solid judgment, excellent follow‑through, and initiative
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, or equivalent experience
At least three years of benefits experience in a medium‑sized organization with employees across multiple states
Strong knowledge of governmental regulations (ADA, FMLA, HIPAA, COBRA, ERISA, FLSA, ACA)
Demonstrated administration of medical, dental, vision, EAP, life, and disability programs
Experience handling highly confidential information with discretion
The posted salary range for this position is $65,000 to $85,000 annually. Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications.
