Patient Navigator
specializing in Hereditary Cancer Testing.
Hiring in Los Gatos, CA for a Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm shift. Responsibilities
Genetics education for high-risk patients. Registration and scheduling follow up appointments for genetic testing. Interface with patients and creates an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures to patients and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe and accurate manner. Under the direction of the area supervisor, perform daily activities accurately and on time. Maintain a safe and professional environment. Performs with confidence clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures. Perform verification of patient demographic info / initials including patient signature post-venipuncture to verify tubes were labeled in their presence and that the name on the label is correct. Maintains required records and documentation. Demonstrates organizational commitment and promotes a positive image to patients, clients, employees and the public in general. Draw quality blood samples from patients and prepare those specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures. This is roughly 5-10% of the role, which may expand over time. Qualifications / Required Education
2 years of recent medical assistant experience coordinating with a team of medical professionals; certification or registered medical assistant is preferred. Ability to provide quality, error free work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision. Excellent phlebotomy skills in collection of specimens, including blood draws for genetic testing. Flexible and available based on staffing needs, which may include holidays, on-call and overtime. Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record, if applicable. Must demonstrate superior customer focus; ability to communicate openly and transparently with peers, supervisors and patients; ability to accelerate and embrace change; and knowledge of our business. Training locations may vary based on trainer availability. Required Education
Registered/Certified Medical assistant preferred National Certified Phlebotomist required or LPN and proven experience in blood collection is required. BLS certification is required. Work Experience
2 years of recent phlebotomy experience is preferred 2 years of recent medical assistant experience coordinating with a team of medical professionals, certification or registered medical assistant is preferred. 2 years of recent experience with insurance verifications/authorizations is required. Minimum 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred Customer service in healthcare setting environment is preferred Keyboard/data entry experience Benefits
