Certification Engineer (DO-178B/DO-178C) – Everett, WA (Onsite)
Position Summary
The Systems team Commercial Airplanes is seeking a highly skilled Mid-Level Certification Engineer with strong experience in DO-178B/DO-178C software certification to support avionics programs in Everett, WA. The ideal candidate will be hands-on with the full software lifecycle, experienced in SOI audits, and adept at collaborating with FAA Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs).
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, review, and maintain SOI (Stage of Involvement) Checklists, including all Software Accomplishment Summary (SAS) artifacts such as SDP, SVP, PSAC, HLR, LLR, SCI and related documentation.
Support and participate in SOI1 to SOI4 audits, ensuring compliance with DO-178B/C objectives.
Provide direct certification support to FAA Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs), including audit preparation, documentation reviews, issue resolution, and data package updates.
Conduct detailed reviews of software development and verification artifacts using standard certification checklists.
Required Skills & Experience
Hands-on experience with DO-178B/DO-178C across the full software lifecycle.
Strong expertise in preparing and reviewing SOI audit materials and checklists.
Direct experience supporting and interfacing with DERs.
Background in software development and/or software verification within the avionics domain.
Solid understanding of FAA/EASA software certification processes, compliance objectives, and documentation standards.
Proven experience reviewing and assessing certification artifacts for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
Extensive knowledge of SOI audits, certification reviews, checklists, and compliance data generation.
