Who You’ll Work With When you join Arista as part of the Sales Engineering team, you become part of a team of industry experts and technical leaders. Typically reporting to the Regional Engineering Manager, you work alongside some of the most skilled field engineers in the industry. In collaboration with Product Management and Software Development teams, you play a pivotal role in steering product developments, offerings, and strategic direction to best serve our customers and prospects.
What You’ll Do
Collaborate with Account Managers to gain an in‑depth understanding of enterprise and commercial clients and conduct whiteboard network architectural reviews to identify improvement opportunities.
Present Arista products, including Open Networking Data Center, Cognitive Campus, CloudVision, Security, Endpoint Security, and Real‑time Fabric Monitoring solutions.
Design and implement high‑scale leaf‑spine architectures with overlay technologies such as VxLAN and EVPN to improve network performance and efficiency.
Conduct thorough hands‑on testing of customer proof‑of‑concept setups, Data Center and/or Campus network designs, and deployments.
Provide design guidelines and recommendations to enhance client network performance while balancing customer needs with Arista Validated Designs.
Collaborate with sales to respond to RFPs/RFQs, providing valuable customer feedback to Product Management and Engineering.
Help shape product development through continued feedback and insight.
Represent Arista at SDN and Open Networking events and conferences, promoting awareness of innovative solutions.
Stay current with industry trends and advancements, including competitor solutions.
Author and collaborate on white papers showcasing expertise in network design and implementation.
Qualifications
Network Industry Certification preferred (e.g., ACE‑L4, ACE‑L6, ACE‑L7).
Minimum 7 years of experience in L2/L3 networking design and implementation for Data Center, Campus, and Wi‑Fi.
Expert‑level routing and switching experience, including L2/L3 protocols and overlay technologies such as VxLAN.
Hands‑on experience designing highly scalable leaf‑spine architectures.
Preferred experience as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Network Consulting Engineer.
Expert knowledge of Ethernet, RSTP/MSTP, VLANs, IP routing, TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, eBGP, VxLAN, Multicast, Spanning Tree, and QoS.
Understanding of competitor technology, especially Cisco and Juniper.
Command Line Interface (CLI) expertise.
Experience building network automation using Python and Ansible highly desired.
Strong writing skills, able to create informative white papers.
Local/Regional candidates only.
Additional Information The base pay range for this role is $134,000 to $176,000, adjusted for work location. Compensation may also include discretionary bonuses and equity. Employees in Sales roles are eligible for a Sales Incentive Plan and receive benefits including medical, dental, vision, wellbeing, tax savings, and income protection.
