At VitalCore Health Strategies (VCHS), an industry leader in Correctional Healthcare, we are looking for a Psychiatrist to serve at Dale Haile Canyon County Detention Center in Caldwell, ID. The position is 8 hours per week and is a vital part of our dedicated team.

Position Summary The Psychiatrist provides diagnostic evaluation and treatment to patients as well as psychiatric consultation, diagnosis, and treatment to patients. The Chief Psychiatrist provides clinical direction, general supervision, and training to the site staff, has additional managerial responsibilities, approves and signs treatment plans, and creates discharge plans to ensure appropriate follow-up after discharge from the facility.

Essential Functions

Provide onsite psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of inmates referred by the medical and clinical services staff.

Provide written summaries of history, diagnosis, and treatment course.

Provide psychiatric services for inpatients, including assessment, diagnosis, staffing, treatment planning, and regular review of all assigned inmates.

Provide psychiatric services for all inmates referred to the Healthcare Unit who need regular psychiatric/behavioral health follow‑up.

Provide psychiatric services for inmates who need to be transferred to Behavioral Health facilities, including work‑up and court hearing testimony if applicable.

Act as a regular Psychiatrist, participating in treatment programming and planning for the Behavioral Health Unit (when applicable), including regular staffing, contact with unit staff and supervisor, discussion of problem cases, monitoring of medication, and general psychiatric input.

Manage medication for all admitted inmates.

Provide individual and/or group therapy as appropriate.

Approve, sign, and monitor the implementation and efficiency of treatment plans.

Approve all admissions and discharges into the Behavioral Health Unit (if applicable).

Provide in‑service education to the site staff as needed.

Attend training and meetings as required.

Minimum Requirements

Graduate of medical school and completion of a psychiatric residency.

Licensed to practice in the state of Idaho.

Current DEA number.

Commitment to quality, compassionate, ethical care.

Benefits & Compensation 8 hours per week. Compensation details: $120‑$130 hourly wage.
