Manager, Government Relations – National Association of Manufacturers (NAM)
We are seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented Manager, Government Relations with a strong background in government relations, advocacy, and public policy to join NAM in Washington, DC. The role involves building relationships with policymakers, monitoring legislative and regulatory developments, and developing advocacy strategies to promote the interests of the manufacturing sector.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Managing Vice President, Government Relations with scheduling, budget, travel, and special projects.
Build and sustain relationships with Congress, the Administration, and other relevant stakeholders.
Administer NAM‑PAC activities and support its administration.
Coordinate association‑hosted meetings, facility visits, political fundraisers, sponsorships, and events.
Advance NAM’s policy agenda through extensive contacts with the U.S. Congress and the Administration.
Maintain knowledge of NAM priorities and legislative issues to provide accurate, timely information and assistance to member companies and internal staff.
Engage member company government relations representatives and respond to their requests professionally.
Handle pressure in a deadline‑driven environment.
Support grasstops advocacy initiatives aligned with organizational goals.
Develop event and training programs for the ambassador program, ensuring effective training and support.
Collaborate internally on advocacy campaign strategies, leveraging a network of advocates.
Conduct research and analysis to identify key stakeholders, industry leaders, and potential grasstops advocates.
Build relationships with external organizations, industry associations, and community leaders to expand the network.
Create and distribute compelling advocacy materials (briefing documents, talking points, toolkits).
Qualifications
Proven experience (3+ years) in government relations, legislative/regulatory affairs, political campaigns, and/or public policy.
Strong project management skills with ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple initiatives.
Solid understanding of the political landscape, public policy issues, and advocacy strategies.
Excellent interpersonal skills, collaborative attitude, and ability to build relationships.
Track record of recruiting and mobilizing advocates or influencers to support organizational goals.
Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, goal‑driven environment.
Ability to contribute significantly to campaigns and initiatives in the political or business advocacy environment.
Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high‑quality documents rapidly.
Preferred bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Salary Range: $71,000 – $80,000 annually (based on qualifications and experience).
