Data Engineer
A growing climate‑tech startup in Boston is seeking a Data Engineer to join our innovative data team. This company is building a modern, data‑driven platform that empowers businesses and communities to track carbon emissions, optimize renewable energy usage, and make smarter sustainability decisions in real time. This is a hybrid full‑time role working with Python, SQL, AWS, and scalable data pipelines.

Required Skills & Experience
3+ years of experience in data engineering or backend data systems
Strong proficiency in Python and SQL
Hands‑on experience with AWS services (S3, Glue, Redshift, Lambda, etc.)
Proven ability to design and optimize ETL pipelines and data workflows
Solid understanding of data warehousing principles and best practices
Desired Skills & Experience
Background in sustainability, climate data, or IoT platforms
Familiarity with streaming data platforms (Kafka, Kinesis)
Experience with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Step Functions)
Strong communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally
What You Will Be Doing
Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines to process sustainability and energy data
Integrate new data sources, including APIs, IoT devices, and streaming platforms
Optimize workflows for performance, cost efficiency, and reliability
Implement data quality monitoring and alerting systems
Collaborate with stakeholders to support analytics and product needs
