PRIMARY FUNCTION Under the direct supervision of Club Leadership, the Program Leader supports the Clubhouse/Site by providing youth development services and limited operational support. The Program Leader will be responsible for oversight and programming for a group of 14‑20 members, and will assume accountability for achieving the outlined goals and objectives of the Club’s programs.

This is a part‑time position (25 hours per week). Work hours may shift depending on site, staff, or youth needs.

KEY ROLES (ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES)

Plan, organize, and implement a range of activities/programs for youth daily.

Ensure programs and activities meet members’ needs, including safety, enrichment, quality, and fun.

Initiate new and creative program ideas, promoting and stimulating program participation.

Work with co‑lead on special events (e.g., Youth of the Week).

Ensure the Optimal Clubhouse Experience by regularly reviewing BGCA’s Program Basics Blueprint tools, resources, and recommendations.

Incorporate activities and practices that reduce trauma and increase wellness as recommended by Behavioral Health Services.

Adhere to Club’s meal service program protocols.

Transport Club members (safe walks, in Club vehicles) as needed and approved by supervisor.

Utilize Club’s Positive Behavior Policy when holding members accountable to agreements.

Maintain compliance with the Club’s Restroom Policy.

Manage inventory of all cleaning and program equipment and supplies; inform leadership of needed supplies.

Provide guidance and role modeling to members.

Ensure a healthy, safe, and inclusive environment and safeguard the confidentiality of all youth.

Maintain contact with members’ parents and others to assist in resolving problems.

Maintain a professional appearance and manner reflective of the high standards of Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco.

Conduct temperature checks as needed.

Disinfect and sanitize the department before and after the work shift; and hourly throughout the day.

Complete and submit daily sign‑in sheets as requested.

Participate in weekly staff meetings and trainings.

Meet weekly with the BHS staff member assigned to your cohort.

Submit weekly summary to Club Leadership.

Attend all BGCSF mandatory trainings.

Perform any other duties the Club Leadership might deem necessary and supportive of the best interest of the Club and the overall organization.

Requirements

2 years of youth development experience working with youth ages 6‑18 in a youth development setting and ability to create strong relationships & curriculum with youth.

Strong positive disciplinary skills with youth, ability to manage youth behaviors and maintain high expectations.

Proven communication, organizational, and self‑starter ability.

Strong ability to create and follow systems and procedures in a high‑paced environment with continual distractions.

Preferred Qualifications

Education or coursework in Early Childhood Development, Education, or related fields.

Proven leadership or mentorship experience.

Current Red Cross First Aid/CPR certification (or within 90 days of employment).

Bilingual candidates are highly encouraged to apply.

Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a 10‑passenger vehicle.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift 25 lbs.

Must be able to stand for at least 2 hours consecutively.

Must be able to sit at a computer workstation for long periods of time.

Professional Development Opportunities

Pay The wage range for this role is $23,000 to $25,000 per year, depending on skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and other BGCSF needs. BGCSF’s decisions are based on other factors and dependent on circumstances for each position.
