Overview

Annual salary: $190,000 – $230,000. Scope

The Director of Pharmacy & Admixture Services provides strategic and operational leadership for Epic Care’s pharmacy and admixture programs across all clinical sites. The position oversees the financial, clinical, and operational performance of pharmacy and admixture operations, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations while advancing patient safety, quality, and efficiency. Responsibilities

Provide oversight and leadership for pharmacy and admixture operations across all Epic Care sites, ensuring compliance with regulations, standards, and internal policies. Develop workflows and operational processes that optimize patient access, safety, and staff efficiency. Identify and implement best practices and innovative solutions for pharmacy and admixture operations. Lead implementation of new programs, including drug management initiatives, technology adoption, and operational improvements. Serve as a liaison between pharmacy, clinical teams, operations leadership, and the Director of Practice Operations. Promote a collaborative, transparent, and service-oriented environment across all teams. Attend and implement Quarterly Business Review (QBR) recommendations and appropriate therapy interchanges, including clinical recommendations for dosing adjustments and adjunctive therapies. Compliance, Quality & Safety

Ensure adherence to all applicable federal and state laws and regulations governing pharmacy operations, including USP 797, USP 800, and California Board of Medicine or other oversight requirements. Oversee quality assurance programs related to admixture preparation, sterile compounding, and hazardous drug handling. Coordinate internal audits, external inspections, and corrective actions as needed. Develop and maintain policies, protocols, and staff education to promote safety and compliance. Collaborate with Nursing, Medical, and Compliance teams to ensure seamless medication management and infusion operations. Financial Management & Cost Optimization

Develop, manage, and monitor departmental budgets and expenditures to ensure fiscal accountability. Analyze drug utilization data, inventory trends, and cost savings opportunities across sites. Partner with Finance and Procurement to oversee vendor relationships, pricing structures, and formulary optimization. Identify and implement strategies to control costs while maintaining high-quality clinical outcomes. Team Leadership & Staff Development

Provide leadership and direction to pharmacy managers, pharmacists, and admixture staff across all Epic Care sites. Lead personnel management, including staff development, performance evaluation, conflict resolution, and ensuring compliance with organizational HR policies and labor regulations. Establish performance expectations, conduct evaluations, and provide coaching and mentorship. Support professional growth and certification efforts of pharmacy and admixture staff. Ensure consistent training standards and competency assessments across all locations. Collaboration, Communication & Organizational Alignment

Partner with Medical Directors and Nursing Leadership to evaluate clinical opportunities related to drug use and infusion efficiency. Participate in multidisciplinary committees and quality improvement projects. Communicate performance metrics, compliance results, and improvement initiatives to leadership. Systems & Process Development

Establish and maintain systems to support safe, efficient, and cost-effective preparation and dispensing of medications. Qualifications

Degree from an accredited school of pharmacy required. BLS/CPR Certification required. Licenses / Certifications / Registration

Active California Registered Pharmacist License required. BLS/CPR Certification required. Experience Requirements

Minimum seven (7) years of pharmacy experience, including at least three (3) years in leadership or management. Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervise pharmacy managers, pharmacists, and admixture staff across all Epic Care sites. Oversee recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance evaluation of pharmacy personnel. Provide strategic direction, ensure role clarity, and promote consistency in operations across sites. Collaborate with the Director of Practice Operations to align pharmacy goals with Epic Care’s organizational objectives. Benefits And Perks
