Primary Purpose To dedicate all efforts and resources to provide a clean, safe, secure, and comfortable environment which enhances the educational process.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to operate cleaning equipment; properly handle cleaning supplies; licensed to drive; supervise, train and evaluate assigned employees; operate security and safety systems; basic computer skills; ability to read/write in English.
Preferred Experience: Experience as a school custodian, or the equivalent experience preferred.
Major Responsibilities And Duties Custodial Management
Supervise, train, and evaluate employee performance
Perform custodial duties in assigned areas
Safety
Maintain safety standards in accordance with federal, state, district, and insurance regulations and train custodians on proper and safe use of equipment and chemicals.
Ensure that established safety procedures are followed including lifting and climbing. Make sure that tools and equipment are operated and chemicals handled according to established safety procedures.
Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
Inventory and Equipment
Keep records on supplies, materials and equipment and reports needs to Supervisor
Perform inspections of building conditions and make reports of conditions needed attention to building administrator or designee.
Assume responsibility for reporting needed maintenance repair including major repairs in electrical, carpeting, plumbing, etc. to the Principal or designee.
Equipment Used Floor cleaning equipment, manual and power tools, standard office equipment including computer and peripherals, hydraulic and manual lifts; ladder, pallet jacks and moving equipment.
Physical Demands
Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; may work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
Regular moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds); occasional heavy lifting (45 pounds and over).
Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, noise, vibration; exposure to chemical and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours.
