Job Overview:
Georgia‑Pacific’s Corrugated division is searching for an Operations Manager for our corrugating facility in Augusta, GA. This role will manage a team of employees (salaried and hourly) in a union environment and will be responsible for safety, quality, and production efficiencies. The position reports to the Director of Operations and serves as a succession candidate for a future Director of Operations.
Key Responsibilities
Provide floor leadership to ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental, and quality standards.
Coach, train, and develop operations personnel in safety, quality, production, problem solving, and technical and interpersonal skills.
Align operational priorities with commercial business vision, ensuring the highest quality products at the lowest cost in line with customer requirements and company goals.
Partner with plant leadership to enhance performance, lead continuous improvement initiatives, and develop innovative practices.
Create and maintain a cohesive team of leaders; provide coaching and development.
Maintain a positive work environment for all employees.
Engage on the floor, overseeing plant operations as necessary.
Basic Qualifications
Supervisory or leadership experience in manufacturing, military, or industrial environment.
Experience setting and achieving production and continuous improvement goals.
Leadership experience in corrugated or converting packaging manufacturing operations.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher.
Experience partnering with maintenance department to meet reliability goals.
Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing experience.
Knowledge of equipment servicing, planning/scheduling, supply chain management, mechanical maintenance, plant engineering, quality, and corrugator/converting processes and equipment.
