Material Expediter
Leidos is seeking a skilled and motivated Material Expediter to join our team at our Port Hueneme facility. This position will play a crucial role in the shipping and receiving of material to and from Antarctica.
Location:
Leidos, Port Hueneme, CA (on‑site)
Pay Range:
$23 – $28 per hour
Security:
Public Trust clearance required prior to start date (process may take up to 4 months)
Citizenship:
US citizenship required due to contract requirements
Required Certifications:
Valid forklift operator certification (must be able to operate forklifts up to 10k lbs or higher)
Responsibilities
Coordinate shipping and receiving of inbound and outbound material or cargo from various customers/suppliers and locations in a timely manner.
Verify contents of shipments and ensure correct material or cargo delivered matches what was requested.
Properly package material based on type and carrier restrictions, and prepare cargo for loading into shipping containers, commercial trucks, or Air Force pallets.
Operate powered and non-powered material handling equipment in conjunction with daily duties.
Update cargo tracking system accurately after identifying and packing materials, including actual dimensions.
Stage material or cargo in the appropriate waiting area awaiting transport via commercial air or surface.
Communicate and collaborate effectively with Material Expediting team members and Documentation team members.
Adhere to all safety regulations and best practices, promoting a culture of safety awareness among the team.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of three (3+) years of diversified experience in a warehousing environment, including experience shipping and receiving freight.
Experience loading cargo into containers for ocean shipment; hazardous material handling certification is a plus.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Must possess or be able to obtain a favorable public trust or higher adjudication.
Physical Requirements The successful candidate must have the physical capabilities to stand for the full length of a shift, repeatedly lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds, and adjust body position for various tasks (bending, stooping, kneeling, turning, pivoting).
