Quality Control Inspector

IMIA, LLC , ensuring compliance with Navy regulations and industry standards in vessel preservation.
Responsibilities
Monitor quality control/assurance requirements of preservation performed onboard commercial and U.S. Navy vessels.
Produce and maintain Quality Assurance documentation, including electronic and handwritten records, as objective quality evidence throughout the preservation process.
Develop and maintain Test and Inspection Plans (TIP) for all assigned jobs.
Monitor and document required readings (e.g., metal anchor tooth profile, paint wet/dry film thickness, steel temperatures, environmental readings) using appropriate equipment such as micrometers, dry film thickness gauges, infrared thermometers, and psychrometers.
Ensure all equipment is maintained in good working order and calibrated within required intervals.
Perform all tasks safely and efficiently, following strict safety procedures.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
NACE Inspector and/or SSPC NBPI certification required.
Formal or informal on‑the‑job training in the marine industry, familiarity with Navy and Society for Protective Coatings standards.
Knowledge of maritime painting standards, particularly U.S. Navy ship preservation criteria.
Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, email, and database computer skills.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations for preservation readings and documentation.
Strong written, oral, and diagrammatic communication skills; able to discern and execute complex written or verbal instructions.
Professional, collaborative attitude when interacting with supervisors, co‑workers, and customer representatives.
Physical Requirements Must be physically capable of working an 8‑10 hour day, including average computer use and physical dexterity within confined and restricted spaces and tanks, using scaffolds, ladders, and machinery.
Working Conditions Regularly stand for long periods, work on scaffolds, ladders, machinery tops, and in confined spaces. Exposure to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dust, humidity, hazardous machinery, and precarity. Overtime or shift work may be required. Frequent travel is expected. Strict safety procedures must be followed.
