Project Leader, Civil – Corning Incorporated

Scope of Position Manage a cross‑functional team to design, build, and commission facility construction projects for new or existing manufacturing facilities. Apply fundamental engineering principles to develop, design, and resolve solutions related to civil, structural, environmental, and architectural systems.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
Lead project team, including external engineering and construction management firms in the design, construction, and turnover to manufacturing operations, ensuring compliance with safety, scope, schedule, cost, and other project deliverables such as product quality, equipment and process capability, machine and line rates, and equipment uptime.
Deliver strong project leadership through the initiation, planning, implementation, and close‑out phases.
Develop Statements of Work and RFPs for consultants, CMs, and contractors.
Guide, coach, and develop internal Corning employees and external contractors to meet project requirements.
Establish requirements and acceptance criteria with customers.
Assist in evaluating and verifying project justification, providing input on cost, schedule, and resources for various scenarios.
Identify and drive key decisions for scope, design, schedule, spending, vendor selection, and other critical items.
Travel Requirements
Available for significant domestic travel; international travel may also be required.
Assignments can exceed 1–2 years in duration.
Requires flexibility and willingness to work outside normal business hours, including weekends and off‑shift hours.
Experiences / Education – Required
BS degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural or equivalent.
7 years of engineering and professional work experience.

Facility equipment design, engineering, and construction process experience.
Procurement process knowledge including RFQ and bid qualification.
Knowledge of PDRI, Stage Gate, and Last Planner systems.
Contract terms and conditions awareness.
Negotiation skills.
Project safety awareness and OSHA requirements.

Compensation & Benefits The range for this position is $91,827.00 – $126,263.00 (full‑time). Depending on location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
