Gastroenterology Locums Job in Massachusetts On Call Starting Mid-December Assignment

Coverage Details:
Start mid-December 2025 until permanent physician is hired
Reason for coverage: Retirement

Shift Description:
Friday 4 PM - Friday 4 PM weekly rotation (Each locum provider will take a full 7-day call rotation. The provider begins their shift by picking up the pager at Friday 4 PM, and remains on call until the following Friday at 4 PM.)
Call structure at MMC approx. 1:4
Carry beeper overnight
Providers typically see 2-5 new consults per day, plus follow-ups
Weekend consults handled with brief hospital visits; no overnight stay required
Rare off-hour hospital visits may occur
Routine colonoscopies and endoscopies scheduled Monday-Friday
Open blocks available for new consults and add-on cases

Call Details:
Coverage includes Floor, ED, ICU, emergent consults, and endoscopies (as needed)

Requirements:
Board Certified/Board Eligible (BC preferred)
Active MA license
BLS
ERCP certification preferred but not required

Required Procedures:
Esophageal Dilatation/Manometry & Interpretation
Small Bowel Biopsy
Lower GI Endoscopy (Sigmoidoscopy, Colonoscopy)
Liver Biopsy
Upper GI Endoscopy (Diagnostic & Therapeutic), including:
Biopsy
Foreign Body Removal
Fulguration of Bleeder (Cautery vs. Laser)
Injection/Banding of Varices
PEG placement

Clinical Details:
Adult, Hospital, Gastroenterology, Endoscopy
Average hospital-based patients per day: 4-12
Group size: 4 physicians
Onsite lab and X-ray available
Outpatient coverage not required
