The Business Development Director is responsible for involvement in all aspects of the sales process, including systematic prospect targeting, development of opportunity‑specific sales strategy, and responsible for the full life cycle of the sales process. A growth leader who supports efforts of various Firm practice groups through direct prospecting, networking, attendance and participation with various industry, professional groups and networking associations.
The Business Development Director is responsible for driving growth of our professional services throughout the firm and within targeted industry segments. The Business Development Director needs to represent all services provided by firm, across functional areas and demonstrate an ability to work closely with industry and line of business leaders in co‑leading growth efforts. Must be able to work in a rapidly changing environment and provide timely, high‑quality and accurate work product.
Work with Partners to effectively and efficiently identify and target key companies.
Source and qualify opportunities with companies that are not currently served.
Support Partners and Principals in cross‑selling additional services to existing and new clients where appropriate.
Support and drive the professional team pursuing services with new clients.
Responsible for executing the sales plan and process, including coordination of all necessary internal and external resources to position PKF O’Connor Davies to secure the business.
Actively work networking contacts, professional affiliations and related industry groups in order to expand the Firm’s market share.
Work closely with marketing resources to develop effective, go‑to‑market plans for the industries.
Work closely with management to provide ongoing, current feedback relative to market opportunities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
10+ years experience with demonstrated success in selling professional services (not selling a product) to corporations.
Demonstrated experience leading complex sales processes that involve multiple team members and multiple decision makers (primarily C‑suite decision makers).
Demonstrated networks including but not limited to banking, legal and other professional services relationships that could be leveraged to identify opportunities within assigned industry groups.
Demonstrated experience working with contacts in the middle market.
Excellent influence and negotiation skills.
Must be motivated and self‑disciplined.
Preferred
CPA or MBA
Active network of C‑level contacts in the East Coast.
Demonstrated community involvement and activity with industry associations, civic and/or non‑profit groups.
Exhibit strong business acumen, skills and maturity.
Exhibit exceptionally strong communication, presentation, analytical and organizational skills.
The compensation for this position ranges from $145,000–$175,000. Actual compensation will be dependent upon the specific role, office location as well as the individual’s qualifications, experience, skills, and certifications.
