JOB SUMMARY The Manager of Software Engineering will lead and oversee all software engineering activities for their team and contribute to the software engineering activities across the organization. This role plays a key part in defining and executing the strategy for building robust, scalable embedded SW libraries and APIs that empower customers to rapidly develop SDR applications, leveraging our hardware solutions. The individual will ensure all engineering initiatives align with organizational objectives and uphold excellence in execution, performance, and delivery.
Technical Responsibilities
Collaborate with stakeholders over the software design life cycle to align on roadmaps, release planning, feature prioritization, maintenance activities
Work with the team and project management to drive the release and shipment of software libraries and software products
Deliver reliable and accurate estimates for development efforts, supporting planning and resource allocation
Oversee and participate in the execution, coordination, and identification of project interdependencies for simultaneous software development efforts, ensuring adherence to schedules and scope
Empower and support individual team members to lead the execution of the development of complex, scalable embedded software libraries for SDR platforms
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan, design, and implement new radio features and add support for new radio products
Utilize a systems mindset to drive and support software integration, test, and troubleshooting of SDR products
Represent Epiq Solutions in customer‑facing technical discussions, contributing to solution definition and building trust through deep domain expertise
Serve as a senior technical advisor, influencing engineering decisions across the organization
Promote and implement best practices in software design, development, testing, and documentation
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the development lifecycle
Management Responsibilities
Lead a team of 5-9 engineers, managing team capacity effectively to support efforts across projects with different priorities
Work with the team to define and refine software development processes, tools, and best practices within the team to improve the team's velocity and agility
Foster collaboration and work to build consensus within the team, while utilizing sound judgement to make timely decisions and drive efforts forward when necessary
Stay current on emerging technologies and practices, ensuring Epiq remains ahead of the curve
Guide career development, technical growth, and professional advancement of engineering team members
Conduct regular 1:1 meetings and performance reviews, providing constructive feedback and mentorship
Foster a culture of learning, innovation, and continuous improvement
Navigate interpersonal challenges with diplomacy and emotional intelligence
REQUIRED TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Master's in Engineering preferred
Minimum of 10 years of experience in software development specializing in x86 and ARM-based Linux embedded sensors and systems
Familiarity with Software-defined radio (SDR) and signal processing
Experience developing and building C/C++ libraries
Experience with SW version control
PREFERRED TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS
Familiarity with GoLang, Python, Rust, and C++20 features
Experience with the design and implementation of APIs
General understanding of high-speed network design, network protocols, and topologies
Familiarity with SOSA standards including VITA49/MORA
Understanding of build systems and services including continuous integration and DevOps practices
LEADERSHIP QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of experience in an engineering management capacity
Strong communication skills—both written and verbal
Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving capabilities
Demonstrated ability to lead change and drive employee development
High emotional intelligence with a proven ability to mentor and inspire high‑performing teams
