The Director of Sustainability for Customer Engagement & Reporting provides strategic leadership in shaping and communicating the company’s sustainability narrative to customers and stakeholders. This role ensures transparent sustainability reporting aligned with leading regulatory and voluntary frameworks, while leveraging disclosures to build trust and strengthen customer relationships. The Director partners with commercial and marketing teams to activate sustainability messaging as a competitive differentiator, positioning the company as a trusted leader in responsible business practices.
What you'll be doing
Support commercial tenders and RFPs, creating Baxter sustainability narratives for optimized positioning. Design and implement a rapid‑response system for customer sustainability inquiries and documentation requests.
Develop marketing plans to embed sustainability progress and messaging into everyday collateral, campaigns, and training.
Support brand positioning through sustainability‑focused events, webinars, and industry forums.
Serve as a key point of contact for sustainability‑related inquiries from customers, suppliers, and other external stakeholders.
Collaborate across the enterprise to respond to customer and stakeholder requests, including environmental and HR audits.
Monitor and report on industry benchmarks, ratings, programs, and commitments to maintain competitive positioning.
Lead voluntary sustainability reporting and support regulatory reporting requirements.
Develop sustainability content for Baxter’s annual impact report and other external disclosures.
Work with operations, procurement, finance, and legal teams to ensure alignment between sustainability reporting and business objectives.
Drive internal education on customer expectations and sustainability frameworks to strengthen organizational capabilities.
What you'll bring
10+ years of professional experience and 5+ years of leadership experience, preference of experience leading and managing a sustainability function.
Strong relationship building acumen; ability to understand, articulate and engage on multiple priorities at all levels across a large global/regional organization, and ability to build and maintain relationships with a diversity of external stakeholders.
Excellent leadership, management, organizational, time and project management skills; strong analytical and problem‑solving skills and demonstrated ability to drive change and achieve results.
Strong business acumen; possess a working knowledge of related disciplines/other functions including R&D, legal, compliance, finance, manufacturing and supply chain.
Ability to influence and interface effectively with site/regional/corporate leadership teams as well as organizations outside Baxter including a variety of external trade associations and membership groups.
Education
BS or BA degree required.
Master’s degree in business administration, environmental science, sustainability and/or professional certifications that demonstrate relevant subject matter expertise highly preferred.
The estimated base salary for this position is $184,000 – $230,000 annually. Individual pay is based upon location, skills, experience, and other relevant factors. The position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, commission, and/or long‑term incentive.
