Software Engineer, ML System Architecture
ByteDance’s Doubao team has built a proprietary general-purpose model with multimodal capabilities that powers over 50 ByteDance apps and business lines in China and is available to external enterprise clients via Volcano Engine. The Doubao app is the most widely used AIGC application in China.
Responsibilities
Design and develop machine‑learning infrastructure for large‑language models and AIGC.
Build a super‑large ML system integrating GPUs, RDMA networking, and high‑performance storage.
Ensure the system’s high stability and availability.
Organize and coordinate cross‑functional teams—data center, network, computing, storage, and resource—to complete system construction.
Qualifications
Proficiency in 1–2 programming languages such as C++, Go, Python, or Shell in a Linux environment.
Strong understanding of distributed systems and experience designing, developing, and maintaining large‑scale ML systems.
Familiarity with Kubernetes architecture and extensive experience in system‑level development and tuning.
Excellent logical analysis ability and the capacity to abstract and split business logic.
High sense of responsibility, strong learning ability, effective communication skills, and self‑drive.
Preferred: familiarity with ML infrastructure for large‑model training and inference; experience in AI infrastructure, hardware‑software co‑design, high‑performance computing, or ML hardware architecture (GPU, accelerators, networking).

Job Information Compensation:
$129,960 – $246,240 annually (base salary). Additional discretionary bonuses, incentives, and restricted stock units may apply.
