Morningstar is seeking a
ServiceNow Software Engineer
to join our Corporate Systems team in Chicago, IL. The role involves building and enhancing ServiceNow applications to support ITSM, HR Service Management, and IT Asset Management. You will partner with cross‑functional teams to analyze requirements, design solutions, and deliver high‑quality ServiceNow configurations and customizations.
Position Location Chicago, IL (Hybrid – 4 days onsite per week)
Job Responsibilities
Configure ServiceNow applications, modules, workflows, and interfaces to meet ITSM, HRSD, HAM, and SAM requirements.
Design and maintain a user‑friendly Service Catalog, including request workflows and SLAs.
Translate business needs into technical specifications and functional requirements for ServiceNow solutions.
Collaborate with platform and business teams to integrate ServiceNow with other IT systems and third‑party applications.
Manage data migration activities when required.
Develop custom reports, analytics, and dashboards; experience with Performance Analytics is a plus.
Stay current on ServiceNow features, tools, and best practices.
Identify and recommend improvements to optimize ServiceNow solutions.
Lead testing and quality assurance, including test automation, to ensure system stability and reliability.
Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for all ServiceNow configurations and customizations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience as a ServiceNow Developer, preferably with ITSM, HRSD, and/or ITAM modules.
ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) certification is highly desirable.
Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and XML with hands‑on experience in ServiceNow scripting and development.
In‑depth knowledge of ITIL processes and IT Service Management best practices.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills for designing effective ServiceNow solutions.
Ability to collaborate in a team‑oriented environment and communicate technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
Excellent organizational and time‑management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Understanding of Agile development methodologies is a plus.
