Stryker Surgical Technologies is looking for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our R&D team. The role emphasizes collaboration, leadership, and driving innovation. You’ll work closely with cross‑functional teams, translating user needs into precise design specifications, influencing clinical outcomes, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The hybrid position is based in Portage, MI, with an expectation to be in the office 3‑4 days a week.
Responsibilities
Design and develop schematics and PCB layouts for electronic circuit boards in medical devices, ensuring alignment with system requirements.
Develop, review, and execute electrical system tests using advanced equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers) to validate performance and reliability.
Identify and evaluate solutions to complex product design challenges, balancing trade‑offs at the component and sub‑system levels.
Develop, create, and refine technical documentation, including schematics, design descriptions, stack‑up calculations, and manufacturing test specifications.
Interface with manufacturers to define and implement manufacturing test specifications for scalable production.
Collaborate cross‑functionally with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing, and Project Management to drive project success.
Build relationships and influence across engineering teams, fostering collaboration and technical excellence.
Deliver high‑quality results with passion, energy, and a strong commitment to meeting business priorities such as process improvements, technology advancements, and product development from concept to launch.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Two or more years of work experience in a relevant field.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced understanding of electrical components and manufacturing methods, including common failure modes.
Experience interpreting and analyzing system drawings with basic Mechanical/Software/Electrical interactions.
Ability to interpret, analyze, and test electrical designs.
Working knowledge of the electrical design process.
Proficiency with CAD and other circuit design and analysis tools.
Knowledge of standard technologies used in industry.
