Assistant Shop Manager / Receptionist – Drybar (Scarlet Macaw Inc.)
Department: Sales Operations | Reports To: Shop Manager / General Manager
Position Summary The Assistant Shop Manager is a full‑time position that plays a critical leadership role in driving Drybar shop revenue growth, operational excellence, and client satisfaction. This role combines operational oversight with stylist education, marketing execution, and team development to ensure the Drybar brand experience is delivered consistently. The Assistant Manager works closely with the Shop Manager to manage KPIs, optimize appointments to maximize revenue, and elevate both client and team success. The person in this role will need strong communication skills, both in directing teams of Stylists and providing reporting metrics to senior management. The position offers a pathway to Shop Manager opportunities or continued Education specialization.
Key Responsibilities Performance & Revenue Growth
Manage and analyze key performance indicators to drive sales and ensure operational excellence.
Schedule appointments to maximize revenue while managing labor costs.
Lead product launches, retail performance tracking, and upselling initiatives.
Support membership growth, retention, and client package sales.
Marketing & Brand Growth
Plan, execute, and evaluate the performance of marketing initiatives, including social media, community outreach with local non‑profit and businesses, and in‑shop events.
Build brand presence through partnerships, school demos, and recruitment events.
Represent the Drybar brand with consistency, enthusiasm, and professionalism.
Stylist Education & Development
Train, coach, and develop stylists and bartenders to enhance service quality and product knowledge.
Conduct interview auditions, new hire training, and ongoing education via Drybar University.
Provide in‑the‑moment coaching to improve technique, timing, and upselling.
Foster team engagement and a high‑performance culture through recognition and mentorship.
Operational Leadership
Support the Shop Manager and Area Manager in all aspects of leading the Shop.
Serve as Manager‑on‑Duty in the Shop Manager’s absence.
Ensure compliance with policies, safety standards, and service protocols.
Maintain shop organization, cleanliness, and operational flow.
Monitor inventory and oversee ordering processes.
Support payroll management and staffing budgets.
Success in This Role
Consistently meets or exceeds KPIs across revenue, membership, and retail sales.
Motivate and train a team of Stylists to consistently deliver client service at or above Drybar standards.
Builds shop visibility and client loyalty through effective marketing and community engagement.
Creates a seamless, high‑quality client experience that drives repeat business.
Other tasks as assigned by your Supervisor based on business needs.
Key Skillset Required
Self‑motivated with a preference for seeking and accepting challenging assignments.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment where day‑to‑day priorities change based on business needs.
Strong communication skills, written and oral, to engage with diverse employee and management personalities.
Comfortable leading diverse groups of individual contributors and receiving/providing direct feedback from/to staff.
Able to summarize data and provide reports to senior management.
2 to 3 years of experience working in a hair salon or similar environment.
Familiarity with the software used (including Booker and Canva) is a plus.
Willingness to go above and beyond in delivering success for the Shop.

Compensation
Competitive hourly wage plus tips and commissions from any service delivered.
